Even though my parents are now gone, my home is filled with my father’s work, my mother’s work, and my own. As I look around my home, I feel the love and passion my parents had for the Arts. It surrounds, and warms me every day.

In 2000, I lost my only child to a brain tumor. Her passing took with it something that I had long nurtured inside myself. I put down my brushes and paints, turned out the lights, and closed the door on creating. Eventually, the darkness and pain of Amanda’s death began to ease. In part because of the passing of time, but also because of the powerful presence of my parents work in my home. Being surrounded by such beautiful and heartfelt art, created by people who loved me so much, felt like warm hugs embracing me in the cold and slowly began to replace the emptiness of those dark days with a glimmer of life yet to be lived. 5 years ago, I picked up my paints.

I picked up clay, and wood, and brushes. I gently opened the door, and apprehensively turned on the light. I let my passion for design, color and textures begin the process of healing my broken heart and weary soul.

Today I am filled with the pure joy of savoring all that life has to offer. The ROSE has a very special meaning to me. It is my connection to Amanda, and serves as a constant, and sometimes surprise reminder of all that I have left to do and all that I have been blessed to experience. I will be creating a series of Roses this year, along with angels and inspiring words; a tribute to the lives of those who have had such a profound impact on me, my life, and my art.

I hope all who purchase my work, will be blessed with God’s love, and all the blessing he bestows on us. I hope it will bring a smile, invoke joy, light up a corner, a table, bookshelf or wall.
